Anne Frank the Whole Story, Anne Frank: The Life of a Young Girl

To give you a sense of how our Learning Guides can be used by teachers as lesson plans and by parents to supplement school curriculum or for homeschooling, we have set out below a paragraph from the Learning Guide to Four Films About Anne Frank (The Diary of Anne Frank, Anne Frank, the Whole Story, Anne Frank Remembered, and Anne Frank: The Life of a Young Girl).

More than a million children under the age of 16 were murdered by the Nazis in the Holocaust. In Holland, some 25,000 Jews hid from the Nazis, refusing, like the Franks, to docilely go to the concentration camps. Approximately 20,000 Dutch people risked their lives to protect the hidden Jews. Tens of thousands other Dutch must have known about hidden Jews but kept their secret from the authorities. During the course of the war, 11,000 of the hidden Dutch Jews were discovered and deported to the death camps.

The Learning Guide to these four films about Anne Frank also contains sections on Benefits of the Movie, Possible Problems, Helpful Background, Discussion Questions, Links to the Internet, and Bridges to Reading. The Discussion Questions are divided into three categories: Subject Matter, Social-Emotional Learning, and Moral-Ethical Emphasis.
